I have to take 4 Flucloxacillin tablets a day for my impetigo. The problem is, you have to take them an hour before eating or on an empty stomach. My stomach has only been empty once today! And that was this morning. I have to take 2 more because I had another capsule 35 mins ago.
So how long until I can have another capsule? And then how long after that?

It’s a pain, isn’t it? I was recently on high-dose flucloxacillin for a severe infection for several weeks, and, being a doctor, I did not take kindly to being a patient. Some useful pointers:
1. It does not have to be 6 hourly. 6 am, 12 noon, 6 pm and 10 pm is a good schedule (and it does not have to be on the dot).
2. It should be an hour before food, but the time after a meal is never fully specified. However, the stomach is normally fully emptied after 4 hours. I reckon the antibiotic absorption will be effective if you wait 2 hours after a meal. Breakfast at 7, lunch at 1, a little at 4 pm teatime and supper at 7 should keep you fed and antibioticised.
