Okay, so I know that this is nearly impossible to answer over the internet. I just wanted to hear some thoughts.

A little over a week ago I developed what my doctor told me was impetigo on my face in this small spot by my chin/mouth. Now, I am a perfectly healthy 18 year old female with good hygiene so I have no idea how that even happened. But apparently it's caused by staph or strep bacteria. So my doctor prescribed bactroban for me and said if it didn't look any better after a few days she would give me antibiotics. Well, I used the bactroban religiously (three times a day) on the thing. And it didn't look any better after a few days, it actually looked worse.

So we called back the doctor and I was prescribed Augmentin to take for ten days. I've been taking it for five days so far and nothing is better at all...it actually looks worse! Do you think I should've seen improvement by now? To top it all off, it now doesn't even look like impetigo...it looks like it's deeper in my skin and is almost ulcer-like. It's gross! Like, the center is this black-gray scab and it has raised red ridges around it. And it oozes pus, which is absolutely disgusting. I hate the fact that it's on my face too, and now I'm worried it's going to scar. Does this sound like impetigo still or...?

Thanks for your help. I understand if you can't really help because, like I said, this is only over the internet. But maybe someone had something similar?

My son and daughter have been diagnosed with impetigo. I've been reading alot that the items need to be washed in hot water. I certainly want to clean the items properly, but I'm also scared hot water will shrink everything. I'm not afraid of the towels, but I am of the clothes and bedding. I actually used to watch white tshirts in hot water and they seemed to be shrinking so I quit doing that. Please help, I don't know what to do! Also, I put everything in the regular hamper before I saw further advice to keep said items separate. UGH! Obviously I am quite new at this. Thank You!

Last fall I started my freshman year of college at san diego state. When I came home (san jose) for Christmas break, after around two or three weeks my lips began to get really itchy, and these tiny bumps started forming on my lips. It hten began to get red, and form these scabs and then they turned yellow and boom impetigo. I was put on antibiotics and had to apply this cream, and after around a week and a half it was gone ( I returned to san diego state a few days after I was put on all this stuff)

Then I came home for spring break. after a couple days my lips began to itch again, but luckily I didnt get it before I went back to SD.

Now, its summer vacation and after only a few days since being home my lips started to itch again, and im getting those same bumps and Ive noticed that when I wipe my lips with a kleenex, it comes off yellow... So Im almost positive that Im getting it again

But I just dont know WHY this is happening. I havent kissed anyone, havent gotten cut on my lips... it just happens. Does anyone have any idea why this could occur out of nowhere? like I know this is caused by a staph infection and is most prevalent in younger kids, but I just dont see how I coud have gotten it so sudden when I came back, and have never gotten it in SD... Help pleeeease????
My house is not dirty... I have never gotten it before until I came home the first time, over Christmas break, and that was even after a couple weeks of being home.

I had a small scratch on my chin, that has quicky developed into a large sore. My GP confirmed it was impetigo and put me on antiobiotics. The sore is very noticeable, and Im not sure I want to go out with such a large sore on my face, the infection spread to my neck and is quite sore. I normally wear foundation (light coverage), I was wondering if it's possible to use foundation over the scab as it heals? as long as you don't rub it? Then wash hands then use it over the rest of your face? and does anyone know how long it will take to get rid of it it? I don't want to be hiding in doors the whole of this week!

Any help would be appreciated.
