Are there any animals at your house? They could be holding onto the infection or perhaps a family member has it? Is there mold in the house? Sometimes fungus can be the culprit. Also, start washing your hands and face more when you are home.

That does sound like impetigo. Here is some info:

The most common form of impetigo is impetigo contagious, which usually starts as a red sore on your child's face, most often around the nose and mouth. The sore ruptures quickly, oozing either fluid or pus that forms a honey-colored crust. Eventually the crust disappears, leaving a red mark that heals without scarring. The sores may be itchy, but they aren't painful.

Ecthyma is a more serious form of impetigo in which the infection penetrates deeper into the skin's second layer (dermis). Signs and symptoms include:

Painful fluid- or pus-filled sores that turn into deep ulcers, usually on the legs and feet
A hard, thick, gray-yellow crust covering the sores
Swollen lymph glands in the affected area
Scars that remain after the ulcers heal.

You can go to the site listed below for pictures.
You need to be on an antibiotic so you really need to see a doctor. Put some triple antibiotic ointment on the areas until you are able to see your doctor. Also try to keep the areas covered if at all possible. It is really nothing to play around with. It is also VERY contagious.

It's a pain, isn't it? I was recently on high-dose flucloxacillin for a severe infection for several weeks, and, being a doctor, I did not take kindly to being a patient. Some useful pointers:

1. It does not have to be 6 hourly. 6 am, 12 noon, 6 pm and 10 pm is a good schedule (and it does not have to be on the dot).

2. It should be an hour before food, but the time after a meal is never fully specified. However, the stomach is normally fully emptied after 4 hours. I reckon the antibiotic absorption will be effective if you wait 2 hours after a meal. Breakfast at 7, lunch at 1, a little at 4 pm teatime and supper at 7 should keep you fed and antibioticised.
